MOBILE, Alabama (November 2, 2009) – Bit-Wizards, a full-service custom software and website development company in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, is proud to announce our sponsorship of the Gulf Coast Technology Council’s (GCTC) scholarship fund for 2009. Bit-Wizards has contributed $1,000 each of the past three years to this fund. Vince Mayfield President and co-founder of Bit-Wizards said, “Encouraging and motivating today’s high caliber information technology (IT) students is vital to the success of our area and our industry”. Bit-Wizards is committed to assisting students throughout the region from Panama City to Mobile and contributes to several scholarship funds in this area.

GCTC’s goal is to foster the long-term growth of the technology sector on the central Gulf Coast and position the region as a global leader in the creation of technology-based jobs. GCTC has created the scholarship fund for local college students majoring in technology. Designed to help ensure a growing technology talent pool, the GCTC Scholarship Fund fosters the education of local technology students and keeps that talent pool in Mobile for years to come. GCTC started the scholarship fund as part of its mission to grow a highly skilled technology workforce in the Mobile area. This scholarship fund will create a venue for local companies to meet potential future employees.

GCTC held its monthly meeting on October 21, 2009 to honor the recipients of this year’s scholarships. The recipients included Angela Ashley, a student at Remington College who received $1,000, Pashupati Shrestha, a student at the University of South Alabama who received $1,500, and the top winner was James Pierce a student at the University of South Alabama who received $2,500. Louis Erickson, vice president and co-founder of Bit-Wizards attended the presentation and said “It is very rewarding to be able to help these students achieve their goals and it allows them a great networking opportunity to seek out potential employers after their graduations”.
