Dan Magistri
Lead Software Engineer
MCP

What is your background?
A.A.S. in Computer Information Science, ECPI College of Technology, Virginia Beach, VA
5 years of professional .NET development experience.
Various scholastic and professional commendations for excellence and performance

Prior to joining Bit-Wizards, I proudly worked as a defense contractor writing ASP.NET applications to help our Nation’s military leaders make more informed decisions by supporting their ability to assess the readiness of our Nation’s war-fighting units. I worked on various contracts at the USN, USAF, and JF levels.

What do you do?
Architect and implement .NET applications and SQL Server RDBMS architectures.

What was your first paying job?
McDonald’s. What? Are you telling me you NEVER had to work fast food?! Don’t judge me, I was young and I needed the money. :D

What is something you have been or are currently involved with that most people would not know?
I volunteered at a Judeo-Christian outreach center one summer a while back. Put on skits for the kids and helped out with event organization and activities. I have also raised and donated money for several charitable causes over the years, most recently to breast cancer research.

People you admire the most:
I admire my grandmother and my mother for their inner strength, courage, willingness to sacrifice and their un-yielding, ever-lasting compassion for their family.

Your long, lost great uncle leaves you a million dollars. What is the first thing you would buy and why?
Do I owe anyone any money at that particular juncture in life? Hmmm… I’ll have to defer until I can consult my “What to do with a Million Dollars” flowchart.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Italian food and buying Apple… I mean, errr… [insert name of well-advertised Microsoft competitor here] products.

You, a deserted island and three must haves?
A boat, a boat, and… oh, yeah… A BOAT! Get me off this island!

Most obscure item you own?
I’ve got to say, off-hand, probably the decorative, wooden spoon from Russia might currently take the cake. Does the bull full of sangria from Spain count?

First concert you attended?
Korn and Incubus at the Hampton Coliseum in ’98 or ’99.

Biggest challenge in your job?
Remembering that my way may not always be the best approach to a given situation and knowing when to adopt the advice of others. Seems generic to life, doesn’t it?
