What do you do at Bit-Wizards?
Website and application development. Silverlight, CMS, and anything else that needs to be done.
What is your background?
I started out in networking in a small office and discovered that application development was a more my speed. I started my development career using ASP and SQL Server 6.5. Since then I’ve created numerous sites and applications using ASP.NET (3.5/2.0/1.1), Silverlight, and various CMS systems. I have built global applications for Microsoft, HP, and other Fortune 500 companies. I’ve designed and maintained networks for development and production environments using Active Directory, Load Balancing, Terminal Services, SANS, and other high availability technologies.
What was your first paying job?
McDonald’s for all of 3 weeks making breakfast. But then I climbed the corporate ladder up to produce clerk at Kroger’s.
People you admire the most?
My parents, for teaching responsibility, determination, and perseverance. They taught me to live for the day, take care of the ones you love, commit yourself to what you do, and always strive for your best. I live those lessons everyday and am thankful for each one.
Your long, lost great uncle leaves you a million dollars. What is the first thing you would buy and why?
Tickets for my wife, daughter, and me to tour Europe for weeks. And maybe a stop at the beach on the way.
Biggest challenge in your job?
Keeping up with the ever-changing world of technology. Every day new ones emerge which makes life a never ending lesson. And deciding where to go for lunch.
If you could go back to school, what would you study?
Medicine (ER doctor). I’ve always loved medicine, but never quite had the time for 12 years of schooling and internship.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I am definitely a Modern Marvels and How It’s Made junkie. And I keep waiting for the day I get to ride in the Cash Cab.
What is your favorite place to travel and why?
Anywhere with my beautiful wife and plenty of sun. A native of Florida, I can’t go too long with a hefty dose of sun and surf.
You, a deserted island and three must haves?
My family, a telescope, and my Henkel knives.
First concert you attended?
Stone Temple Pilots at the Omni in Atlanta in 1994. I was more impressed with the opening band, though. Local H – 2 man group out of Atlanta that rocked the house.
